GRADE 2: I Am The True Vine-Eucharist & Reconciliation
Preparation for the Sacraments of First Communion and First Reconciliation is a two-year program, beginning in Grade 1. If your child was not registered in a Religious Education program in Grade 1, please contact the Religious Education office to determine what he or she will need to do to prepare to enter our Grade 2 Sacraments program.
The Eucharist in one of the three Sacraments of Initiation in the Roman Catholic Church. It completes the incorporation begun in Baptism and Confirmation. In the Eucharist, Christ becomes food that sustains us as we grow in discipleship. The Eucharist always represents a new beginning, the constant renewal of the life of Christ within us. During his public life, Jesus welcomed everyone into his presence. Despite objections, he welcomed children, outcasts, and sinners. The Church that Jesus founded strives to follow Jesus’ example as a welcoming community.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is central to following Jesus, for he devoted his life to the forgiveness of sin. He always forgave people their sins because it was integral to his mission. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is also central to being members of the Christian community, for there can be no love and peace within the community of believers if there is not forgiveness among us.

We hope you will love the experience of passing along your faith to your child and perhaps deepen your own understanding of it as well. In order to help you do this, we recommend that before you download the lesson plan for each session, take a few minutes just for yourself – to clear your mind of the many worries and distractions that are part of being a parent. We recommend this 3-Minute Retreat as a terrific way to do this – it really works and it is really only 3-minutes long!

Parents! Be sure to record each session you complete with your child on the Homeschool Session Log. This is very important, because this is the official record of your child’s work. Rather than forwarding your child’s session review results to us by email, use our New! Homeschool form to submit and keep track of the work he or she has completed.
